Here’s why I decided to get sisterlocks:

Sisterlocks have provided me with a level of hair freedom that I did not know was possible for Black women.
I get approached about my hair quite a bit when I am out and about. Usually from other Black women telling me about how they love my hair, but they are “not the loc type” ..which I guess means they are not confident that they would like how they look with locs. I am a firm believer that everyone looks great with locs, but that seems especially hard to convince people of. I always make it a point to tell women in these conversations that I am sure they would look great and I am more than happy to recommend a good sisterlock consultant to get them started. Personally, I absolutely love the freedom that locs provide and the versatility that comes unique to sisterlocks.

I love that my hair can pretty much be straight, without any curl to it and still have a cool look with just a bobby pin. Simplicity is key for me and all I added to this look was makeup, I did not have to spend a lot of time on my hair.
style spotlight!

I abosolutely love wearing my locs curly. Fun fact about me is that I actually despise my hair straight, but curling it up is a lot of work! For this style, I used jumbo orange perm rods (pictured below). I three strand twist halfway and then roll it becuse I like the result better. I then sleep on the perm rods at night to achieve this style.
**I used jumbo perm rods because my goal was looser curls. If you want tighter curls use smaller perm rods.

I live by this stuff. When my locs were much shorter all I needed to do my hair was water. Once my hair started getting longer I could not understand why my hair wouldn’t curl anymore. One day I asked my loc consultant and she asked what products I used and I replied “water.” She laughed and told me that my hair was too long to just use water. She suggested this brand, I tired it out and was hooked! It works so well. This retails for about $5.99 at my beauty supply stores.
**One major caveat with this stuff is that if you have a lot of locs like I do you will go through this bottle rather quickly. I can only get two full styling cycles out of this bottle and then it runs out. Still a huge fan though.

Life is too short to have boring hair!
